The renovation of Lindbergh High School took place over the course of 20 months, and was particularly challenging due to the fact it had to remain fully operational throughout construction. The Renton School District had several major renovations going on in its district concurrent with this project, so the students and faculty could not be relocated in order to make construction easier.
At the peak of construction during summer break, Mastercraft had up to 20 electricians working double shifts in order to meet the schedule, but more importantly to ensure the students had a working school to attend. Along with a total replacement of the fire alarm, security, and intercom systems, we replaced a majority of the light fixtures and circuit breaker panels. Replacing the existing 2500 amp service with a new, 4000 amp service was particularly challenging due to space limitations for the new equipment, as well as difficult routing of the new conduits. This $2.3m electrical project was completed on time, thanks to a willingness by the owner and design team to let us completely revamp the phasing of the schedule, allowing us to complete critical tasks well in advance of the original requirements.
