ELECTRICAL SERVICE AND CONSTRUCTION

North Hill Elementary

West Elevation

This was a brand new, 67,000 SF school replacement for the Highline School District. Mastercraft was responsible for everything of an electrical nature, including hiring subcontractors to assist with the fire alarm systems, security, intercom, sound, and telephone/data. The finished product is visually stunning, with a bright, airy, and soaring two-story Main Entry. The architect incorporated the industrial elements needed to make the building function into the overall finished look; exposed spiral ductwork at the ceilings draws your eyes upward, where the steel trusses and beams compose a complex geometry. Indirect lighting in the classrooms ensures even distribution of artificial light with a minimum of glare and eye strain for the students and teachers.

Electricians for Mastercraft logged over 14,000 man-hours in building this beautiful facility from the ground up. Other major parties involved were Wick Constructors, the General Contractor; Thomas Cook Fitzgerald, architects; and Hargis Engineers, mechanical and electrical design. Funding came primarily from 2002 levy bonds, and the Federal Aviation Administration kicked in for noise abatement measures.
